Título: The follow-up best choice control for conservative management of odontogenic keratocyst (OKC): Report of two cases

Resumo: OKC is an odontogenic cystic lesion with a high rate of recurrence, mainly after long-term follow-up. Imaging evaluation of the treated area is performed using panoramic radiography (PR) or cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). The two cases reported here show different conclusions between PR and CBCT imaging evaluations. Case 1, a 36-year-old male, and case 2, a 33-year-old female, both presenting OKCs, underwent decompression and cyst enucleation. After 6 months, both cases showed a radiopaque area on PR, indicating new bone formation of the entire site. After 1 year follow-up, CBCT investigations were performed to compare the evolution of the lesions, and a hypodense area was identified in both cases. A new surgical intervention was performed, followed by cryotherapy. Considering the high recurrence rate, long-term follow-up using the best imaging methods available is recommended for an early and accurate recurrence diagnosis.
