Título: MULTIPLE INTRAOSSEOUS LESIONS IN THE MANDIBLE: A CHALLENGING DIAGNOSIS

Nome do Apresentador: Isadora ALVES

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de caso clķnico (PCC)

Área Temática: Estomatologia

Resumo: A 52-year-old Caucasian female presented to the oral and maxillofacial surgery service in June 2022 with a lesion in the anterior region of the mandible that was discovered in a routine radiographic examination in 2009, and several biopsies with different histopathological diagnoses were performed since then. On physical examination, there was no clinical evidence of asymmetry, pain, or increase in volume. The radiolucent lesion has evolved over time, from a mixed area near the apex of the anteroinferior teeth to a well-defined lesion extending from the mandibular symphysis to the posterior mandibular region. The latest histopathological diagnosis suggested a benign fibro-osseous lesion, characterized by fibrous connective tissue fragments interspersed with spherical calcifications and hemorrhagic areas. Fibro-osseous lesions share similar histopathological features, and the accurate diagnosis requires careful correlation of clinical, radiographic, and microscopic data. In challenging cases, prolonged follow-up is often necessary to establish the most appropriate treatment.
