Título: ANTIMICROBIAL PHOTODYNAMIC, PHOTOBIOMODULATION AND OZONE THERAPIES AS METHODS FOR OSTEORADIONECROSIS: CASE REPORT

Resumo: Male patient, 57-years-old, presented purulent secretion and pain in the right posterior mandible after extraction of tooth 48. Patient underwent to radiotherapy and chemotherapy in 2006 because of laryngeal cancer. After clinical and imaging analysis, the hypothesis was osteoradionecrosis (ORN) and amoxicillin-clavulanic acid and metronidazole were prescribed. The patient was submitted to 4 sessions of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) with 0.01 % methylene blue solution and an optical fiber was used for irradiation of red laser, 660nm, 100mW, 9J, 90 seconds (Therapy EC, DMC, São Paulo). The patient underwent a local ozone therapy (OZ) with ozonized sunflower oil. After these treatments, the patient showed resolution of purulent secretion and photobiomodulation (PBM) with red laser, 660nm, 100mW, 4J, 40 seconds was introduced. The patient showed complete wound healing and remains under frequent follow-up for 4 years. So, aPDT, PBM and OZ seems to be effective as adjuvant approach for ORN.
