Título: ANOSMIA AND AGEUSIA AS SEQUELAE OF COVID-19 INFECTION TREATED WITH PHOTOBIOMODULATION

Resumo: COVID-19 can lead to long-term sequelae, such as anosmia and ageusia. These symptoms can persist for weeks or years after the infection and have been reported in patients with mild or asymptomatic COVID-19 as well as in severe cases. We report a case of a 71-year-old female, caucasian, with a history of anosmia and ageusia which started after COVID-19 infection, the symptons persisted for a year. Intrabucal photobiomodulation was performed by irradiating nine points in lingual dorsum and borders with 3J per point with 660 and 808nm. Intranasal irradiation was performed in each narine using 2J with the same wavelength.
This procedure was repeated weekly for a period of two months. Visual analogue scale was utilized by the patient to record the progress of treatment.
The initial improvement was achieved on the day after the first session and gradually throughout the weeks
Patient was followed up for 7 months with the functions restored.
