Resumo: Kaposi´s sarcoma (KS) is an angioproliferative neoplasm caused by human herpesvirus 8 that involves mucocutaneous tissues and aero-digestive tracts. KS has an aggressive course and poor prognosis in patients with AIDS. The objective of this work is to report a case of disseminated KS. An adult white man was hospitalized for complications resulting from AIDS. Multiple bluish-purple nodules involving the hard palate and tongue were identified by clinical examination. Purplish papular lesions were observed on the skin of the lower and upper limbs and on the face. Complementary exams revealed anemia, thrombocytopenia, elevation in erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive proteins and gamma glutamyl transferase. The diagnosis of KS was established by incisional biopsy and histopathological examination. The patient was reintroduced to antiretroviral therapy that promoted a significant reduction in oral lesions. Patient was referred for chemotherapy treatment in another hospital specialized in the treatment of cancer.
