Resumo: Objective: to report an analysis of the epidemiological, clinical, and imaging characteristics of patients who were diagnosed with metastases to the oral cavity. Method: patient charts were reviewed and treated at two different centers. Results: 8 cases of metastasis to the oral cavity with a mean age of 63 years old, and 7 patients were male. Probable primary sites were the colon, breast, lung, prostate, and kidney. The final diagnoses were established through microscopic analysis, imaging, and immunohistochemistry. The oral cavity is not a common route of metastasis and in some cases may represent the first manifestation of the primary tumor. Distant metastasis should be included in the differential diagnosis even without the existence of a reported primary tumor.
