Área Temática: Estomatologia

Resumo: A 68-year-old caucasian man, head and neck cancer survivor, with the chief complaint of "my teeth are soft after radiotherapy" with 2 years of asymptomatic evolution. Local inspection revealed a tumefaction of 2.5 cm in the right anterior alveolar maxillary mucosa, normochromic surface, smooth and shiny to palpation. Panoramic radiography revealed a unilocular radiolucent image involving tooth 13 and the anterior maxillary region. Cone-beam computed tomography revealed a hypodense unilocular image, with thinning and expansion of the vestibular cortical bone and festonated boundaries with extension to the floor of the nasal cavity and shifting the root of tooth 13. Pulp sensitivity test, aspiration and excisional biopsy were performed. The diagnostic hypotheses were odontogenic keratocyst and periapical cyst. Histopathological analysis revealed a non-keratinized epithelial tissue with low columnar cells, mucous cells forming eddies and overlying fibrous connective tissue. The final diagnosis was Glandular Odontogenic Cyst. No recurrence after 2 months.
