Título: Photobiomodulation and photodynamic therapy for the treatment of medication-induced osteonecrosis and OM: a case report.

Resumo: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photobiomodulation (PBM) are therapies that are used in the treatment of osteonecrosis and oral mucositis (OM). In this case report, an 80-year-old woman complained of a painful lesion in the gingival region of the lower incisors. A patient is diagnosed with giant cell arteritis and Alzheimer´s and uses the drugs: metrotrexate, azathioprine, denosumab, antihypertensive and medication for alzheimer´s. Clinical examination and imaging tests were performed, in addition to an incisional biopsy of the region. The diagnosis was osteonecrosis and OM, induced using antiresorptive and stomatotoxic medications, respectively. As a treatment, we opted for the association of PDT (660nm+ photosensitizer), PBM (660nm), in addition oral antibiotic therapy and periodontal treatment was provided to. The patient showed total remission of the lesions and is now waiting to proceed with the restorative treatment and prosthetic rehabilitation, thus showing the therapeutic potential of these therapies employed.
