Resumo: A 48-years-old woman was referred to our service for evaluation of severe xerostomia and xeroph-thalmia. The patient reported neuropathic symptoms that started 8 months ago, including involuntary reflexes in the upper lip, burning sensation in the oral mucosa and numbness in the lower lip, tongue and hard palate. Intraoral examination revealed no alterations. Based on the symptoms reported, the main hypothesis was Sjögren´s Syndrome associated neuropathy. Complementary exams were solicit-ed, with negative results for Anti-Ro(SSA), Anti-La(SSB) and Schirmer test. The unstimulated sali-vary flow test was performed and indicated a severe hyposalivation. The patient underwent a biopsy of minor salivary glands. The histopathological findings indicated focal lymphotic sialodenitis. The patient was referred to rheumatologist and the Sjögren´s syndrome diagnosis was concluded. The pa-tient started rheumatological treatment and is under clinical follow-up with our interdisciplinary team.
