Resumo: Osteosarcomas are malignant neoplasms of the bone, frequently affecting the long bones. The involvement of the jaws are rarely noticed. A 35-year-old black female, with no smokingor drinking habits, presented with an intraoral swelling compromising the floor of the mouth and the anterior region of the vestibule, on the left region of the mandible, with a three month evolution. A TC exam was taken, showing a 5 cm hypodense image with an hyperdense "sunbeam-like" center, demonstrating cortical-bone expansion. The clinical diagnosis was ameloblastoma. An incisional biopsy was performed. Microscopic findings presented a mesenchymal neoplasia with ovoid, spindle and plasmacytoid cells, deposition of osteoid matrix and immature bone tissue. The histopathological diagnosis was compatible with an osteosarcoma. The patient was referred to the oncologist.
