Resumo: Male patient, 67 years old, smoker. Came to the outpatient clinic complaining of lesions in his mouth. Physical examination showed multiple white/reddish exophytic lesions in bilateral buccal mucosa and labial commissure, with an irregular and ulcerated surface. Lesions had a 5-year evolution with periods of remission and worsening. However, 5 months ago the lesions started increasing in size. Incisional biopsy was performed, prescription of nystatin 100000 UI and miconazole 20mg/g gel during 28 days, and guidance on oral hygiene and removal of the poorly adapted prosthesis. Histopathology demonstrated epithelium exhibiting acanthosis and exocytosis with PAS showing the presence of fungi, confirming the diagnosis of hyperplastic candidiasis. After 1 month of treatment, the lesions significantly regressed, with no recurrence for 3 months.
