Resumo: Oral Potentially malignant disorders (OPMD) are tissue alterations that, if not treated and properly monitored, can undergo malignant transformation. The most common OPMD are actinic cheilitis, leukoplakia and lichen planus. These lesions are strongly associated with consumption of tobacco, alcohol and prolonged sun exposure. The study aimed to evaluate the epidemiological profile of patients with OPMD diagnosed in a Stomatology service. Data were collected between the years of 1992 and 2022. From a total of 155 lesions, 47 cases of leukoplakia were diagnosed, 23 male, with mean age of 47.1 of which 29.3% were smokers, 8.5% former smokers and 10.6% reported alcohol consumption. Actinic cheilitis was found in 48 patients, 41 men, with mean age of 57.0 and 20.8% were smokers, 5.3% former smokers and 6.7% reported consuming alcohol. Lichen planus was found in 75 patients, 54 female, with mean age of 52.3 whom 16.0% were smokers, 13.3% former smokers and 14.7% reported consuming alcohol. Early diagnosis and monitoring of OPMD, with attention to risk factors, are important to prevent malignant transformation.
