Título: LANGERHANS CELL HISTIOCYTOSIS INVOLVING PERIAPICAL REGION AND DENTAL IMPLANT: AN USUAL CASE REPORT

Resumo: An ex-smoker 72 year-old-woman presented for extraction of tooth 16 which was located beside a dental implant. The panoramic examination showed osteolysis in the apical region of tooth 16 that surrounded the implant as well. The corresponding material was curetted and sent for anatomopathological examination, showing histiocytoid proliferation with eosinophils, requesting immunohistochemical studies. The patient returned for follow-up and provided a periapical radiograph performed seven years ago that showed evidence of lesion. The immunohistochemical study displayed positivity for S100, CD5, CD1A and Ki-67, and a diagnosis of Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) was rendered. The patient has not returned for follow-up.
