Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the epidemiological and clinical profile, and time to treatment initiation (TTI) of patients with lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in Brazil. Study Design: This retrospective observational study analyzed patients with lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCC recorded in the Brazilian Hospital-Based Cancer Registries from the INCA database. Results: Out of 1,633,246 individuals with cancer diagnosis identified between 2010 and 2015 in Brazil, 54,090 (3.3%) were diagnosed with lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCC. Most patients were from Brazil's Southeast (51.0%) and Northeast (23.6%). The main profile of included patients was Caucasian men (79.4%), with a low level of formal education (83.8%), and with a previous history of heavy tobacco consumption (84.5%). Except for lip cases, most patients diagnosed with oral cavity (71.8%) and oropharyngeal (86.3%) SCC had an advanced-stage (III-IV) disease. The median TTI was 73 days and 63.6%, 60.3%, and 55.8% of patients with lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCC received the first treatment after 60 days of initial diagnosis. Conclusion: In summary, more than half of the patients with lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCC did not have access to the first treatment within the period established by law (60 days).
