Título: LANGERHANS CELL HISTIOCYTOSIS IN A PEDIATRIC PATIENT

Resumo: A one-year-old girl was referred to the stomatology clinic complaining of a lesion in the maxilla. Head and neck examination revealed red scaly lesions throughout the head and auricular region suggestive of seborrheic dermatitis. Oral examination revealed an exophytic tumoral lesion with a granular surface, measuring approximately 3 cm, in the upper right alveolar ridge extending from tooth 53 to 55 lasting one year. Radiographs showed an ill-defined radiolucent image in the area. Clinical diagnosis was Langerhans cell histiocytosis and an incisional biopsy was performed. Histological analysis of the HE stained slides revealed a proliferation of neoplastic Histiocytes compatible with Langerhans cells, and numerous eosinophils. The neoplastic cells were positive for S100 and CD1a expression and final diagnosis was Langerhans cell histiocytosis. The patient was referred to Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
