Resumo: A 65-year-old female was referred to the stomatology clinic complaining of a "lump in her tongue" lasting two years. Physical examination revealed a sessile normochromic nodule with a flat surface and smooth consistency, measuring approximately 3mm, on the left lateral border of the tongue. Clinical diagnosis was fibrous hyperplasia and lipoma. An excisional biopsy was performed and histological analysis of the HE stained slides revealed an unencapsulated well-circumscribed proliferation of blood vessels of different calibers and sizes, and smooth muscle cells, within the connective tissue. Immunohistochemical analysis showed that neoplastic cells expressed AML and HHF35 and were negative to S100 expression and exhibited ki-67 expression in less than 1% of the tumor cells. Final diagnosis was angioleiomyoma. The patient was successfully treated and remains under clinical follow-up.
