Resumo: Histoplasmosis is a deep mycosis, considered as a disease associated with immunosuppression where its course can be fatal; it is rarely observed in immunocompetent patients. We carried out a retrospective study of 12465 medical records between 1995-2003 and 2009-2017, where we found 20% of patients with infectious diseases and 1% corresponded to histoplasmosis. We present 5 cases of histoplasmosis in HIV (-) patients, male, over 50 years old. Symptoms included pain, dysphagia and ulcerated lesions; the most frequent location was the palate. The complementary diagnostic studies were: routine analysis with CD4 lymphocyte count, HIV serology, mycological examination and anatomopathological study. Due to the fact that the symptoms of histoplasmosis coincide with those of other more common pathological processes and sometimes there is a delay in diagnosis, it is essential to establish an early diagnosis in order to treat the infection and preserve the quality of life of the patients.
