Título: ORAL PARACOCCIDIOIDOMYCOSIS IN A ELDERLY MAN WITH SYPHILIS

Resumo: Paracoccidioidomycosis is a systemic fungal infection that mainly affects individuals in rural area. Considered as a chronic disease, respiratory simptoms, fatigue, fever and oral lesions may be obseverd. The aim of this study is report a case of Paracoccidioidomycosis in 60-years-old farmer man that was reffered to the stomatology service to evaluate an oral lesion with evoluation of two months. The patient denied other symptoms and vicious habits but a positive test for syphilis was presented. A crusted lesion and a reddish granulomatous tumor lesion with ulcerated surface on the left side of the lower lip and labial mucosa was observed, respectively. The diagnostic hypotesis of Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Syphilis and Paracoccidioidomycosis was established. The incisional biopsy was performed and morfological findings reached the hypotesis of Paracoccidioidomycosis. The patient was reffered for treatment and still under follow-up. This case emphasizes the need of knowledgement regarding infeccious diseases.
