Título: LICHEN PLANUS AND LICHENOID LESION - DISCUSSION OF A CASE

Resumo: Lichen planus and lichenoid lesions affecting the oral mucosa share very similar or even identical clinical aspects. Objective: to discuss a clinical case in order to contribute to the clinician in the process of differential diagnosis and management. Study: a female patient, 69 years old, presented symptomatic white plaque and erosive lesions on the lateral mucous membranes of the tongue and cheeks, mainly. Design: she was submitted to biopsy of the lesion on the lateral tongue. Results: the diagnosis was compatible with lichen planus. In addition, the pathologist highlighted a previous skin examination performed with the diagnosis of lichen planus. The patient was oriented about the disease and referred for medical evaluation. Conclusion: this case study highlights the importance of investigating the detailed medical history of patients, as well as the importance of the anatomopathological examination of alterations in the skin and oral mucosa in the diagnostic process.
