Título: MANDIBULAR LAGERHANS CELL HISTIOCYTOSIS IN A PEDIATRIC PATIENT: CASE REPORT

Resumo: Male patient, 1 year old, presented a firm swelling in the right mandible, exhibiting expansion of the cortical bones, with duration of one month and history of fever and pain. He didn´t have any systemic diseases, as reported by the mother. Imaginologically, it was verified a hypodense osteolytic lesion, with bone loss extending from the ramus to the right mandibular body. Clinical diagnoses of neuroblastoma and lymphoma were made. After incisional biopsy, histopathological analysis revealed a proliferation of cells exhibiting characteristics compatible with histiocytes, permeated by numerous eosinophils, lymphocytes, plasmocytes and multinucleated giant cells. Immunohistochemical analysis showed positivity for CD1a, CD-68 and Ki-67. Histopathological diagnosis was Langerhans cell histiocytosis. The patient is undergoing chemotherapy treatment, with 15-day cycles. He has been submitted to 13 sessions so far, and the lesion is currently in regression.
