Resumo: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and ameloblastoma are, respectively, the most common malignant lesion and odontogenic tumor of the oral cavity. However, concurrent lesions are rare. A 45-year-old man noticed a volume increase in mandibular area where periapical cyst had been removed 13 years ago. Swelling was observed in the lower ridge, approximately 5 cm in size, firm to palpation, with mucosa-colored appearance, presenting on the top a nodular, erythroleukoplakic lesion with a heterogeneous surface. Panoramic radiograph revealed an intraosseous multilocular radiolucent lesion, well-defined, in the region of teeth 33 to 37. Also, an irregular aspect of alveolar ridge contour was detected, resembling "moth-eaten" appearance, coincident to erytrhroleuckoplakic lesion topography. Histopathological analysis of intraosseous and oral mucosa incisional biopsy was consistent with unicystic ameloblastoma, and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), respectively. The patient was referred to a cancer reference hospital for treatment.
