Resumo: A 58-year-old female was referred to the stomatology clinic complaining of "a ball in the mouth caused by my prothesis". Physical examination revealed the presence of a sessile, lobulated, normochromic, fibrous lesion in the right posterior region of the floor of the mouth and retromolar area, lasting 3 months. The patient reported trauma with the lower removable partial prosthesis and was a smoker. Clinical diagnosis was squamous cell carcinoma and an incisional biopsy was performed. Histological analysis of the HE stained slides revealed a mixed inflammatory infiltrate composed mostly by macrophages and eosinophils in a fibrous connective tissue stroma. An excisional biopsy was then performed and histological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of traumatic granuloma with tissue eosinophilia. The patient has been followed-up for 7 months with no signs of recurrence and was oriented to seek for new removable prosthesis.
