Título: USE OF 5-FLUOROURACIL AS AN EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE IN CONSERVATIVE TREATMENT OF ODONTOGENIC KERATOCYST: A CASE REPORT

Resumo: A 29-year-old male patient was referred due to a radiographic finding in the right mandible. Extraoral physical examination, no alterations were observed. Intraoral, a discrete bulging was noted in the posterior region of the right mandible. Imaging exam revealed a radiolucent area in the right mandible, with defined borders, extending from the distal of tooth 47 to the coronoid process, and with a multilobulated appearance. Due to the clinical and radiographic aspects, an aspiration puncture was performed, revealing the presence of a creamy and whitish liquid. An incisional biopsy was performed, and the diagnosis of odontogenic keratocyst was made. The treatment consisted of enucleation and curettage of the lesion, associated with chemical cauterization with 5-fluorouracil cream, which was kept in the surgical site with a gauze and removed after 24 hours. The patient has been under clinical and imaging follow-up for 12 months, with no signs of lesion recurrence.
