Resumo: Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is a hereditary condition caused by mutations in the NF1 gene, which is responsible for producing a tumor suppressor protein. A 67-year-old female diagnosed with neurofibromatosis since young age, presented multiple hyperpigmented skin macules, many cutaneous nodules were seen on skin. She complained about a mass on the palate making it difficult to eat. Oral examination revealed a soft tissue mass on the right side of the hard palate, measured about 2.5cm. Cone beam computed tomography did not show any bone involvement. Diagnosis of neurofibroma was confirmed after incisional biopsy and histopathological analysis, which did not show malignant transformation. Complete excision of the lesion was performed under local anesthesia, using a high-power surgical laser (diode laser 808nm, 2000W). Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of neurofibroma, and the patient is under follow-up for 7 months. Neurofibroma recurrence rate is low, however a close follow-up is warranted.
