Resumo: The clinical advantages of diode laser in oral soft tissue excision: case report.

The high-power diode laser (HPDL) has been increasingly used in dentistry with excellent applications. It can replace the scalpel, allows precise incisions with complete hemostasis, less soft tissue aggressiveness, and more comfortable healing process for the patient. The purpose of this report is to describe the advantages and efficacy of HPDL in excision of soft tissue lesions in the oral cavity. Caucasian female patient, 71 years-old, presented a nodular lesion in the right buccal mucosa of approximately 1.5 cm in size, with sessile attachment, and granulomatous appearance, purple color, soft and bleeding on palpation, with 4 months of development. After the initial histopathological diagnosis of pyogenic granuloma, it was treated by excision of the lesion with a HPDL. Patient reported no post-operatory pain and had an excellent healing process after one week of follow-up. HPDL is an excellent technique for bleeding lesions with clean sugery and better post-operatory evolution.
