Título: HYPERPIGMENTATION DUE TO PROLONGED USE OF IMATINIB - A CASE REPORT

Resumo: Male patient, 60 years-old, leucoderma, previously diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia, was
referred to the oral and maxillofacial surgery service complaining of "darkening of the roof of the
mouth" with an evolution time of approximately 7 months. The patient also reported the use of
medications: omeprazole, rosuvastatin, glyfage and Imatinib Mesylate 400 mg / day, which he had
been using since April/2009. On physical examination, it was possible to observe bilateral and
asymptomatic hyperpigmentation of the entire length of the hard palate, without surface alterations
and non-ischemic to mucosal compression. No other type of skin or oral mucosa alteration was
found. The clinical diagnosis was hyperpigmentation due to prolonged use of Imatinib. The patient
was instructed regarding the etiology of the alteration and is being followed up by the service, with
no need for interventions. Differential diagnosis is essential for correct conduct and follow-up.
