Resumo: Odontogenic fibromyxoma (OF) is a benign tumor of mesenchymal origin considered a variant of odontogenic myxomas. In most cases OF affects the mandible and appears as a painless swelling. This type o tumor occurs more frequently in adolescents and young adults, being rarely found in children. A 17-month-old boy was referred for evaluation of a swelling in the middle third on the right side of the face with evolution of three weeks. Computed tomography scan showed a hypodense image with a circular shape measuring about 3 x 2 cm. Image and clinical findings suggested a benign maxillary odontogenic tumor and the chosen treatment was surgical removal of the lesion. Microscopic analysis revealed spindle-shaped cells in a myxoid background with alcian blue staining indicating the diagnosis of odontogenic fibromyxoma. The current report shows that odontogenic fibromyxoma should be considered in the differential diagnosis of rapid growing tumors in young children.
