Resumo: Drug-induced oral ulcers are well-recognized but under-appreciated adverse reaction due to medication. The clinical presentation is commonly an "aphthous-like" lesion accompanied by painful symptoms. Many medications are known to be causative agents of oral lesions, but there are few reported cases of antidepressants-induced oral lesions. A 63-year-old female was referred for investigation of painful ulcers at the lateral border of the tongue and mouth floor which had appeared 2 months ago. She used nine different medications for different diseases, including two antidepressants (Amitriptyline and Fluoxetine) without proper medical assistance. An incisional biopsy was performed and histopathological analysis revealed moderate mononuclear inflammatory sites under the epithelium. The clinical diagnosis was drug-induced oral ulcers and the antidepressants were changed with psychiatric support. After 3 months the lesions had healed. This case reinforces the inclusion of an adverse reaction to antidepressants in the differential diagnosis of inflammatory oral ulcers.
