Título: DENTIGEROUS CYST IN THIRD MOLAR - A CASE REPORT

Resumo: Dentigerous cyst is an odontogenic cyst associated with the crown of an unerupted permanent tooth. A 38-year-old male patient was referred by the orthodontist due to a bone lesion in the region of tooth 38. The patient reported numbness and tenderness in the mandible. Image exams showed impacted tooth 38 in an inverted vertical position and a radiolucent lesion involving the crown, starting at the cementoenamel junction and ending at the mesial root of tooth 37 and base of the mandible. Thus, enucleation and curettage were performed and extraction of tooth 38 associated with lesion. Histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of a dentigerous cyst. After 24 months of follow-up bone neoformation was observed and the patient had no complaint or signs of recurrence. Although benign lesion, it can reach large dimensions and weaken the mandible, as in the case presented, causing atypical symptoms such as numbness in the region.
