Título: COCAINE-INDUCED MIDLINE DESTRUCTIVE LESIONS: A CASE REPORT

Resumo: A 39-year-old male patient presented to an Oral Medicine service with a destructive, ulcerated, well-defined lesion located in the midline of the hard palate. The lesion measured approximately 5x5cm in its largest diameters, caused bucconasal communication, and had a reported 4 months of duration. Patient history included former drug use, with no other reported systemic illnesses. He presented rhinolalia, as well as feeding and speech difficulties. A dental panoramic radiography was requested to evaluate the extent of the lesion. Diagnostic hypotheses included cocaine-induced midline destructive lesion (CIMDL), syphilis and deep fungal infection. After thorough anamnesis, physical exam and analysis of imaging studies, a diagnosis of CIMDL was confirmed. The patient was referred to the otorhinolaryngology department for treatment of the lesion. Considering the destruction caused by the injury, a palate reconstruction surgery was recommended.
