Título: PREVENTION AND EARLY DETECTION OF ORAL CANCER IN THE STATE OF PARANÁ-BRAZIL BETWEEN 2014-2018

Resumo:
OBJECTIVES: Prevent oral cancer. METHOD: 29,682 patients over 30 years old in 187/399 municipalities were examined between 1989/2018, being fragmented by 5/5 years and examining the last 5 years. Questionnaire: schooling, family income, attendance at the dentist, habits, conditions and addictions, gender, age, ethnicity. Examination/clinical: oral hygiene and presence of lesions and guidance. RESULTS: 2014/2018, 6,238 individuals were examined, with 1.256 lesions, in 47 municipalities. Being 57% female; 76.0% Caucasian. Among them, 63.7% received up to two salaries. Schooling, 59.8% first/incomplete degree, 19.7% second/degree and 8.9% third/degree, 7.4% non/literate, 4.2% others. Dentist: 20.1% will not go; pain 24.7%; edentulous 20.9%; 1x/year 20.8%; 1x/2years 13.5%. Alcohol: no/drinks 66.4%, stopped less than 5 years ago 1.5%, more than 5 years 3.6%; 66.4% do not/smoke, 5.6% stopped less than 5 years ago, 10.6% more than 5 years ago; chimarrão 32.1%; Hygiene: good 25.3%, regular 37.6% and bad 37.1%. Prevention: 3.1% did not know, 7.8% prevention and 89.1% never did. Total prosthesis: 41.0%, without/prosthesis/tooth 10.3%. A total of 1.256 lesions were found and referred: 32.5% inflammatory, 32.3% traumatic, 13.3% cheilitis/actinic, 6.0% leukoplakias, 5.0% papillomas, 1.5% lichen planus, suspicions/cancer 6 .4%. NI: 3.0%. CONCLUSION: Majority of lesions found between 41 and 70 years of age.
