Nome do Apresentador: Isabela Domingues MARTINS

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de Revisões narrativas ou sistemáticas (PRN)

Área Temática: Cirurgia de cabeça e pescoço

Resumo: Objective: The aim of this systematic review was to integrate all data on the clinicopathological features of metastatic melanoma in major salivary glands. Study Design: Electronic searches were performed in four databases and in gray literature according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Eligibility criteria were based on articles in English describing case reports or case series of metastatic malignant melanoma in a major salivary gland. Results: Sixteen studies reporting 18 cases of metastatic malignant melanoma were identified. The mean age at diagnosis was 51.89 years, mainly occurring in men (n = 11/61.11%). The site of primary melanoma was most in the head and neck region (n = 16/88.89%) and parotid gland was the most common gland affected (n = 17/94.44%). Conclusion:Metastatic melanoma is rare on major salivary glands. We must emphasize that this is the first systematic review that allows us to know more about the demographic and clinical characteristics of metastatic melanoma specifically in the major salivary glands.
