Título: Complications in oral surgery related to a rare immune disorder

Resumo: A 37 years-old female patient was referred to our specialized oral surgery service with pain in the right posterior mandible. At radiographic exam it was noted the presence of a cystic lesion associated to the tooth 48. The patient underwent surgical treatment of the cystic lesion and the reconstruction of the residual area with titanium plate, which was initially successful, but later associated with recurrent infections. The hematological exams revealed no signs of infection but a non-specific eosinophilia. The patient was then referred to an allergist which established the clinical diagnosis of variable immunodeficiency, which is an rare immune disorder that explained the the unsucceeded surgical treatment. The patient was then managed with immunoglobulin infusions and after 12 months from the first surgery, the patient is stable and in a good recovery process.
