Título: PAROTID CYST AND A SINGLE ORAL PURPLISH NODULE LEAD US TO SUSPECT HIV INFECTION

Resumo: A 40-year-old man presented to Stomatology Department complaining of a painless blister on the gingiva, with 15 days of duration. The extraoral clinical exam showed a surgical scar in the region of left parotid gland. The patient reported that a lymphoepithelial cyst had been removed 6 months before the appearance of the oral lesion. A single purple well-defined nodule, with 1 cm in its greatest extension, located on the lower gingiva was observed. Our main diagnosis hypothesis was Kaposi's sarcoma. The lesion was excised. The histopathological exam was compatible with Kaposi´s sarcoma¸ with immunoreactivity for CD31, CD34, HHV-8 and Ki-67. A serological test for HIV was requested, which was positive. The patient was referred to infectologist. After 13 years, the patient is under HIV control and with no new head and neck lesions. The present case showed a close relationship between parotid lymphoepithelial cyst and Kaposi's Sarcoma in an HIV-patient.
