Título: ERYTHEMA MULTIFORME SECONDARY TO HERPES SIMPLEX SUCCESSFUL TREATED WITH CORTICOSTEROID AND ANTIVIRAL: A CASE SERIES

Resumo: Erythema multiforme (EM) is an inflammatory mucocutaneous condition that is most often triggered by infectious agents, such as herpes simplex virus (HSV). Will be presented 4 cases of recurrent EM in patients with HSV infection. They were immunocompetent men (22 to 42-year-old) who attended to the Stomatology Service with clinical features of multiple, recurrent, irregular, painful ulceration, arising at any location of the oral mucosa. An addition some patients presented skin and genital lesions and regional lymphadenopathy. The final diagnosis was based on the exclusion of other diseases in the differential diagnosis. Patients were treated with corticosteroid and acyclovir, and eventually amoxicillin-clavulanate, and the antiviral treatment were continued to prevent EM recurrences. Pain relief occurred 2 to 3 days after initial treatment, and oral ulcerations were solved in 7 to 10 days. All patients of this case series were maintained under chronic suppressive antiviral therapy without new episodes of EM.
