Resumo: The aim of this report is to present the clinical criteria used to establish the diagnosis of a case of oral lichenoid reaction associated with paroxetine hydrochloride use. The case refers to a 47-year-old female patient who presented with a complaint of a sore on the left side of her tongue. In the intraoral examination, an ulcer with whitish margins exhibiting streaked plaque-like appearance was observed, located on the left lateral border of the tongue, with a history of 2 years. After excluding local traumatic factors and analyzing the patient´s medical history, the medical team proposed the replacement of the medication for the treatment of depression (paroxetine hydrochloride), under the hypothesis of an oral lichenoid reaction. The patient showed complete remission of the condition after 1 month of medication replacement and remains disease-free 6 months after diagnosis.
