Resumo: Gum cancer is a rare disease. It most commonly affects the elderly population who are not exposed to conventional risk factors such as smoking and alcoholism. A male, 69 years old, cardiopathic, hypertensive, and with a history of prostate cancer, displayed erythroleukoplakia, with necrosis in the lower posterior alveolar ridge of around 3 centimeters, reporting pulsating pain and local paresthesia. The lesion was noted after tooth extraction of 46. On tomography was observed swelling of the region together with bone resorption and irregular ridges. An incisional biopsy was done, and the histological analysis showed a squamous-cell carcinoma, with mixed inflammatory infiltrate and numerous atypical tumor cells. The patient was directed to a cancer hospital for treatment.
