Resumo: Introduction: Sjögren's syndrome (SS) is a chronic systemic autoimmune disease, which mainly affects the exocrine glands. Lacrimal and salivary glands are particularly affected producing Sicca symptoms, which are the main manifestations of this disorder. The oral repercussions of SS have been correlated with reduced quality of life. Purpose & Study Design: To perform a systematic review to evaluate the impact of these repercussions on the QoL SS patients. Methods: This study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Search strategy was performed in the MEDLINE/PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Scopus electronic databases. The included studies assessed the HRQoL of patients diagnosed with SS along with oral repercussions of the disease, providing a correlation of both. Results: 21 articles met the eligibility criteria. 13 studies (61.9%) used the OHIP-14 questionnaire to evaluate oral health related QoL and showed that the oral repercussions of SS had a negative impact on QoL. Out of the remaining, 4 (19%) found correlation of oral repercussions of SS and poorer QoL, 3 (14.3%) showed no correlation and 1 (4.8%) was unclear. Conclusion: Oral repercussions of SS negatively affect QoL. Future studies should prioritize standardized methodology to generate more homogenous results.
