Título: SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA OF THE GINGIVA: A REPORT OF THREE CASES WITH UNUSUAL CLINICAL FEATURES

Resumo: This report describes three cases of gingival squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) with unusual clinical features. There were two women and one man aged between 28 and 53 years. The chief complaints were pain and bleeding for two months. Clinically, the lesions were on the buccal mandibular gingiva and appeared as sessile nodules varying in color from white to reddish. One case appeared as an ulcerated nodule. Radiographically, two cases showed mild alveolar bone loss. The provisional diagnosis was squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in two cases and pyogenic granuloma in another case. After incisional biopsy and histological analysis, the diagnosis of SCC was rendered in all cases. All patients were referred to a specialized public hospital and were underwent to surgery alone or associated with adjuvant radiotherapy. Currently, no signs of recurrence are observed after 1 year of follow up. In gingiva, SCC may mimic inflammatory lesions.
