Resumo: The adequacy of the oral environment for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy should be planned according to intervals and regimens due to the increased risk of complications after dental surgery, such as osteonecrosis. The aim is to report the case of a 51-year-old caucasian female patient, with a recent diagnosis of bowel cancer. She was referred by an oncologist because her dental prosthesis caused pain during feeding. The intraoral physical examination revealed severe periodontal disease with grade 3 mobility in several teeth. The treatment plan involved the extraction of all teeth in the upper and lower arches, pre-prosthetic surgery and rehabilitation with full upper and lower denture. After these phases, a nutritionist developed a food reintroduction plan, due to the patient´s difficulty in adapting to the new life condition. The importance of the multidisciplinary team for the integral care of cancer patients will be emphasized.
