Resumo: Observing the current medical scenario, the existence of several complementary exams to diagnose diseases is indisputable. FT-IR spectroscopy has been highlighted, vibrational technique using a lamp as a source of excitation of matter, emitting a light with different wavelengths promoting the vibration of the molecules of the sample evaluated in the infrared light region. FT-IR spectroscopy is used in the medical field as a non-invasive diagnostic technique requiring small amount of sample which the result can be observed quickly, helping other tests such as: histopathological, biochemical and serological. Other applications involve the diagnosis and monitoring of systemic diseases, monitoring of physical exertion in athletes and even the diagnosis of cancer. These results can be obtained by analyzing biofluids like blood, urine and saliva. Bibliographic revision was carried out on the PUBMED platform between 2005-2023, and the articles that were most relevant were selected for a literature review. Researchers are very positive concern the clinical application of FT-IR spectroscopy in the medical field as a non-invasive diagnostic. It is important to highlight that as relatively new technique in the health are, professionals must be informed about, and in the in the near future we could use for the benefit of patients
