Resumo: Objective: The aim of this study was to report the prevalence and types of biopsied oral and maxillofacial lesions in infants and newborns, from 0 to 11 months.Study Design: This retrospective study was based on the retrieval of clinicopathological data from 2002 to 2022 at oral and maxillofacial pathology referral center. Biopsy specimens from infants and newborns were analyzed. Gender, age, anatomical site, diagnostic hypothesis, and histopathological diagnosis were evaluated.Results: Among 61.849 biopsies sent to the lab between 2002 and 2022, 6.995 (11.3%) were from pediatrics patients, and 84(84/61.849; 0.13%) were from 13 newborns and 71 infants. The lesions were more frequent in female patients (51/84), and the most prevalent lesions were mucocele and inflammatory fibrous hyperplasia.Conclusion: Oral and maxillofacial lesions that depends on biopsy for its final diagnoses is rare among infants and newborn, and showed wide diversity.
