Resumo: Oral Proliferative verrucous leukoplakia (OPVL) is a rare, multifocal, progressive potentially malignant disorder, a challenging diagnosis and clinical management. Here, we reported the management and diagnosis in a series of six cases of OPVL. Six female patients aged between 31 - 77-years-old presented white and red plaques in different anatomic sites. All patients underwent periodic and rigorous follow-ups and the average time of follow-up was 7 years. Biopsies were performed depending on the appearance of new lesions and histopathological diagnoses varied between different degrees of dysplasia, it is noteworthy that one of these patients had a diagnosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma in dorsum tongue. Thus, based on the literature's criteria, these cases were classified as OPVL. Therefore, the complexity of diagnosis and management of this condition are visible, reinforcing the importance of an intensive follow-up and the need for studies that seek better diagnostic methods and different therapeutic approaches.
