Resumo: Objective: To determine the efficacy of apitherapy in the treatment of oral mucositis in patients with cancer. Study design: This systematic review was performed according to the PRISMA guidelines. The PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, SciELO, and LILACS databases were searched for articles published until May 2022. The variables studied were oral mucositis severity and propolis and honey consumption. The risk of bias was assessed using Cochrane´s Rob 2 tool. Results: A total of 651 studies were identified, of which 11 randomized controlled trials were included after applying the eligibility criteria. The propolis and honey studies included 180 and 371 patients, respectively. Most studies on propolis (80%) and honey (83.3%) demonstrated a reduction in the severity of oral mucositis. The bias analysis revealed low risk in three studies on propolis, and in five studies on honey. However, the methodologies used in these studies varied. Conclusion: Propolis and honey may be used in oral mucositis treatment.
