Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the degree of oral mucositis in children and adolescents undergoing chemotherapy and determine its relationship with associated factors. Study Design: This cross-sectional study included 30 patients aged 0-18 years who were admitted to the oncopediatrics department. Data were collected through clinical examinations and from charts. Grade of oral mucositis was analyzed based on the World Health Organization (WHO) scale. Results: Severe mucositis (grades 3-4) was found in 4 patients. A total of 12 and 10 patients had grades 1 and 2, respectively. The absence of mucositis was observed in 4 patients. Kendall´s bivariate correlation analysis revealed weak negative correlations (p<0.05) between the degree of mucositis and the degree of parental education, and between the degree of mucositis and the chemotherapeutic drugs used. A moderate negative correlation was observed between the mucositis grade and tumor type (p<0.01). Conclusion: The degree of mucositis is correlated with the chemotherapeutic drug, tumor type, and parents´ education. Therefore, strategies should be considered to reduce the influence of these factors and minimize side effects. Funding: CNPq
