Resumo: Stomatitis Glandularis (SG) is a rare disease with unspecific etiology. It is characterized by chronic inflammation involving minor salivary glands, with micro abscesses development and purulent discharge.
Cheillitis Glandularis (CG) is a particular subtype of SG with exclusive lip involvement.
The aim of this study is to report 5 cases of these entities highlighting potential etiological factors.
3 cases of CG and 2 of SG were reported, according to the criteria of Piperi et al. Three males and two females, with a median age of 70 years (59-78). Associated comorbidities were observed in four cases.
The most relevant clinical characteristics were firm and painful nodules with purulent discharge through salivary ducts. Labial and buccal mucosa were the most affected areas.
All cases were treated with antibiotics and surgical removal of refractory lesions.
SG is a challenging diagnosis and its management should include control of local and systemic factors.
