Resumo: Tumors of minor salivary glands are rare, and approximately 25% are malignant. Mucoepidermoid carcinoma is the second most common malignant neoplasm in minor salivary glands. A 42-year-old female patient presented with discomfort and burning sensation on the tongue for 4 months. On clinical examination, a firm, painless, whitish-yellowish papule measuring approximately 4mm was observed, located at the junction between the lateral margin and the dorsum of the tongue, with no palpable cervical lymph nodes. Diagnostic hypotheses were papillitis and benign lymphoepithelial cyst. An excisional biopsy was performed, and the histopathological report revealed a low-grade intracystic mucoepidermoid carcinoma of minor salivary gland with clear margins of the neoplasm. The patient was referred to the head and neck team and was kept in clinical staging due to early diagnosis and disease management with a good prognosis.
