Resumo: Craniocervicomandibular dysfunction is a multifactorial disease closely related to psychosocial and behavioral factors. The intense exposure of the population to constant stressors ends up generating a chronic allostatic disorder, not allowing a physiological repair of the organism. The continence in the release of cortisol in response to these chronic stimuli, eventually generates conditions of anaerobic muscle, causing muscle hypertonicity, pain, inflammation and sometimes blockage of lymphatic vessels close to the affected musculature. The objective of this study is to report the case of a young man patient of 22 years old, with a recent diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, under adverse psychological conditions, presenting with lymphedema in the cervical region in addition to trigger points in all adjacent muscles, as well as reviewing studies associated with the theme and its clinical approaches.
