Resumo: Ossifying fibroma (OF) is a rare benign tumor and a fibro-osseous lesion, characterized by the replacement of the normal bone to fibrous tissue. The central variant of the OF is unusual, and shows predilection for the mandible among the jawbone. OF has a propensity for the female sex patients, and is slow growing, asymptomatic, and may result in facial asymmetry. This case reports a central OF in the mandible of a 63-year-old female patient, who presented it to the University´s Clinic complaining about that her prosthesis no longer fitted. During the clinical examination, it was possible to observe an increased volume in the right mandibular, near of premolar and canine region, with approximately 20 mm. The lesion was treated in two separate surgical times. During the first surgical time, a biopsy was performed, and during the second, the lesion was enucleated. Nowadays, the patient is under clinical and radiographic follow-up.
