Resumo: Objective: To evaluate oral conditions and possible associations with systemic manifestations in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). Study design: This project included patients diagnosed with CF aged zero years and older. Oral evaluation was performed by means of clinical dental examinations and laboratory results were collected from the participants´ medical records. Results: A total of 82 patients were evaluated and the presence of dental caries (DC) was observed in 17.07%. Dental enamel defects (DED) were observed in 47.56% and were more common in the permanent dentition, of patients with at least one F508del. Gingival inflammation (GI) was also frequent, with higher rates in patients with longer hospital stays for treatment of lung disease. Open bite was present in 20.73%, in which 76.47% had mouth breathing or mixed breathing. We found 34 patients with mouth breathing and 67.64% had deleterious oral habits. Moreover, in 15 patients who had more advanced lung disease, there was no regular toothbrush change and most had higher dental plaque indexes. Conclusion: DED, GI and occlusion alterations were frequent, despite the low frequency of caries, reinforcing the importance of the dental surgeon in the care of these patients.
